Our journey started in the remote Nepali district of Humla where our
family house is referred to as Laprang, which means house of the buddhist lamas. We named our business Lapra to honor our roots and to keep our heritage alive through unique Nepali
handicrafts.
What do we make?We are based in the beautiful city of Pokhara where we weave woolen and
cotton yarn on traditional handlooms.
We process our own dyeing and then finish the fabric into different products that are ethical, well
designed and fairly traded. We work with sustainable pashmina, wool, cotton, silk and other natural
fibers. We use both local and sourced yarn to produce our scarfs, stoles, shawl, blankets, hats and other
small items. From our sustainable cotton, we make different types of wraps, throw rugs, kitchen decor and
items for the bedroom.
All of our products are designed and produced in-house with great
attention to detail and quality which will last you years of pleasure.
Our vision
Our goal is to make meaningful change to the lives of people from the mountains of Nepal while creating
authentic and high-quality products. To do this, we source wool from all over Nepal and we believe this will
help to grow and sustain local producers.
How do we give back to the society?
We believe in giving back to the communities in need. Therefore we have committed to give back 10%
of
our profits to assist the heath and education of disadvantaged women from villages in the remote
district of
Humla.
Humla is one of the most remote areas of Nepal and it acutely suffers from limited transportation,
education and proper hygiene. Due to the lack of proper facilities, childbirth and infant care is fraught
with risk in Humla.
Therefore we are committed to help mothers and children in Humla during the first few years after
childbirth. We work closely with a local buddhist monastery, Pal Sagho Dhungkar Coezom Monastery, and local
health facilities to provide to the families most in need.
How to contact and buy from us?For our local supporters you can come to any of the authorized stores in
Pokhara, Kathmandu and Chitwan in Nepal.
